About

Australian indie electronic artist Winston Giles has just completed a new album: “LOVERS”. The album is a collection of songs penned by Giles that are refreshingly honest and diverse. “LOVERS” has a brooding sexy feel, laced with an indie disco edge.

Giles wears his musical influences on his sleeve, taking many of his cues from classic and contemporary artists like: LCD Soundsystem, Pink Floyd, Duran Duran, David Bowie and Hot Chip.

The first single, “Harder And Faster” is a New York style sweaty disco rocker, with the bonus remix by Don Nadi, a dance-floor stomping assault! Other tracks: “Over And Out” and “Get My Demons Out” are slick and stylish, whilst “She Wants To Be Adored” and “High On A Feeling” are catchy, cool and chic.  “LOVERS” stands as a fresh and memorable album from a stylish Australian artist.

The album was produced by Giles and Don Nadi, and was nearly two years in the making, completed in September 2008. The tracks feature retro synths, eccentric grooves, slick guitars and heart-felt vocals both delicate and terse.

Winston is an artist who has continually re-invented himself along with his ‘sound’. Coming from a background of Rock and Dance, he spent years fronting Art/Punk Band ‘Floor 13’ originating in his hometown of Melbourne Australia, later taking him to the USA where they recorded several albums and toured the country extensively.

Upon his return to Australia, Winston's lust for fresh sounds found himself involved in the local emerging dance music scene, working with numerous high-profile D.J's and producers, which culminated in a project called - Atari Baby - releasing several albums and many remixes and videos under the moniker, garnering much radio and video play.

Winston’s prolific nature soon found him yet another outlet in the form of The Winston Giles Orchestra, releasing two albums, "Soundtracks for Sunrise" (2005) , and “A Magnificent Beautiful Day” (2006) The WGO sound is warm and quirky, (at times compared to UK outfit Lemon Jelly or French duo Air). The Orchestra toured Australia, the UK and USA extensively playing many festivals. The albums received much support from UK & US Radio stations (BBC Radio -Rob Da Bank and Chris Coco), as well as US college radio stations including KCRW. Tracks from the albums have been included on many compilations around the world.

Released on his own label Playup Music and distributed in Australia by MGM distribution, the new album is another departure for Giles. he has been touring in 2009 with performances including the Kiss My Grass festival in Melbourne. More shows will be announced throughout 2009 with plans to tour UK and USA later in the year.

Work has begun on a film "LOVERS". The film features all the songs from the album  and will be released as a dvd mid 2009. The film is being shot in Melbourne Australia.
